That's why Indian travellers are increasingly ignoring "strong" passport countries in favour of "smart" passport countries—places where visas are waived (officially), issued on arrival (predictably), or eVisas are auto-approved (fast).

You MUST fill out the MDAC (Malaysia Digital Arrival Card).

Where: Official Malaysian Immigration website.
Cost: Free.
Consequence: If you do not have the MDAC PDF/email on your phone, airlines in India may deny boarding.
Why it works in 2026: Zero visa fees. High connectivity (AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air).
You still need a return ticket and proof of hotel booking (digital copies work).
Thailand remains the King of Indian tourism. In a massive move to boost tourism, Thailand extended the stay limit for Indians to 60 days under the visa exemption scheme.
Cash Requirement: Immigration officers randomly spot-check Indian tourists for cash. You must show 10,000 THB (approx ₹24,000) per person or 20,000 THB per family in cash or equivalent forex.
Crowds: Immigration queues at Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Phuket (HKT) can take 45–90 minutes during peak hours.
Why it works: No forms to fill before flying (currently). You just land, stamp, and enter.
Bali is not visa-free. You have to pay. But the process is so streamlined that it feels easy.
Visa Fee: You pay approx. IDR 500,000 (~₹2,800) for the Visa on Arrival.
Tourist Levy: You MUST pay the separate "Bali Tourist Levy" of IDR 150,000 (~₹800).
Satusehat Health Pass: Often required to be filled out digitally upon arrival.
Apply for the e-VOA online 5 days before your trip to skip the payment queue at Bali airport. You'll breeze through the electronic gates.
Sri Lanka is desperate for Indian tourists, and they show it with their policy. Warning: Do not confuse "Free Visa" with "No Visa."
You must apply for the ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) online before travel. The system will show the fee as $0.00 for Indians. You still need the ETA approval email to board the flight. Do not turn up at the airport without this.
Why it works: Culturally closest to India. Cheap flights from South India.
The Maldives is the definition of "luxury entry." No prior visa application is needed.
IMUGA Form. You must fill out the Traveler Declaration (IMUGA) within 96 hours of your flight time. It generates a QR code. No QR Code = No Entry. You need to do this for Arrival AND Departure.
Why it works: It is a pure "resort bubble." Immigration is fast because they know you are going to a specific hotel.
Nepal is the only country on this list where your Passport is optional (though recommended).
Documents: If you don't use a passport, you MUST have a Voter ID Card (Election Card). Aadhar Card is NOT valid for air travel entry into Nepal. Do not try to fly with just an Aadhar card; you will be sent home.

Bhutan does not want mass tourism; they want "high value" tourism. They control this through price, not visas.
